Obama Motorcade ‘Crashes’ Opening Ceremonies [2010 Archive]
After witnessing one of the most star-studded Opening Ceremonies in the history of UNA-USA MUN, Delegates, Teachers and Staff members were greeted to another star just outside the UN building. NYPD closed off First Avenue to all pedestrian and motor traffic due to President Obama’s day trip to NYC for a DCCC fundraiser dinner at the St. Regis Hotel.

All delegate travel is not the same. While many students at the United Nations Association of the United Sates Conference live only hours from the UN building, hundreds of other high school students arrived by plane.

Ambassador Rick Barton began his speech at the opening ceremonies of UNA-USA MUN 2010 by informing delegates of a new development he had recently witnessed at the UN in the rights of indigenous peoples debate: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States all reversed their opposition to refusing aid to developing nations, accelerating changes in this prudent issue.
